It is with great sadness that we have to report the recent death of Carl Rutt, leaving his wife and two children. Carl was fundamental in setting up UKnetrunner - a member of the very first committee, forming the constitution and assisting with the set up of the club. Such was his impact that he was the first recipient of the Uknetrunner of the Year award.
Club founder and former Chairman, Alan Lacey, remembers Carl...
"At the peak of my running 'career', I ran many races alongside Carl - who ran at a very similar pace to me - London Marathon, Nottingham Marathon, Blackpool Marathon - some really good memories and many a good laugh shared in the miles we covered together.
He was one of life's truly nice blokes - supportive, friendly, always a smile and never a bad word about anything.
Unfortunately I lost contact with Carl a few years ago after moving up to the North West and the news, passed on from a friend in the Midlands, hit me pretty hard earlier in the week. It seems he had been ill but was brave and kept smiling through the tough times he had.
RIP Mr Rutt. A true UKnetrunner, and friend."
Our thoughts are with Carl's family and friends at this difficult time and we are very thankful for the contribution he made to this club.
