UKnetrunner 2009 AGM

 Fri Jan 23 2009, 09:49am, 0 comments
The club AGM took place on 18th January after the Not The Roman IX 12k race. The minutes for the AGM will be circulated as soon as possible. In the meantime we'd like to inform you of some of the key points of the meeting.

2008 was a good year for UKnetrunner and at the AGM a number of trophies were presented to club members to recognise their contributions and achievements over the past year. The winners were:

UKnetrunner of the year - Shaun Bonner
Grand Prix Winner 2008 - Shaun Bonner

Congratulations to Shaun whose two awards recognise a fantastic year, both in terms of running and the support he has given to the club and fellow members.

2008 Achievement Award - Stephen Price

During 2008 Stephen made some great progress and is now regularly near the front of of the pack in races. He's also a regular contributer on the forum and is happy to pass on his knowledge/thoughts to other club members.

Handicap Winner - Pearce Phillips

Pearce ran a fantastic race, with a time nearly 16 minutes quicker than the estimated time. More details about the handicap race can be found in the news item about NTRIX 2009.

It was also announced at the AGM that some new positions on the committee had been created. Four new committee members were elected into the following positions:

Relay Co-ordinator - Ian Thomas
Handicap Co-ordinator - David Robertson
Grand Prix Co-ordinator - Shaun Bonner
Website Content & News Co-ordinator - Stephen Price

Ian's appointment as Relay Co-ordinator follows the club's successful 2008 gatherings at the Ridgeway and Round Norfolk Relays. Having Ian as a dedicated co-ordinator for future relays will ensure the club continues to participate in these events as effectively as possible. If you have any suggestions of relays that you think members may be interested in please contact Ian.

It was agreed at the AGM to enter a team in the Round Norfolk Relay again this year. It is a unique event and one that those who ran/supported last year thoroughly enjoyed. If you are interested in running a leg and/or supporting please let Ian know by e-mail, private message, or by posting in the topic on the club forum. Further details of the event can be found at http://www.roundnorfolkrelay.com/ where you will see Steve Gunn (club member) won a photography prize!!

After the success of the NTRIX Handicap, members have asked for other events to be targeted during the year. David will be selecting races so if you have any suggestions please let him know. As with relays, handicap events are a fantastic way to encourage members to get together, to promote the club, and to provide a bit of competition for those more competitive members!

With members spread throughout the UK David will pick events that will enable everyone in the club to attend if they wish. But nothing stops some of our members from reaching an event no matter how remote!

Further details about Shaun & Stephen's roles will be communicated soon.
As usual, if you have any website issues/problems please e-mail Matt Leatham.
Contact details for all the new committee members will be added to the "contact us" section of the site very soon.
