We will once again be holding a parkrun handicap series across the five Saturdays from 3 June through to 1 July.
This is a great opportunity to meet fellow UKnetrunners and to see how well your training is going with a little bit of friendly competition!
As well as an overall handicap competition, there will be three other categories:
- Most parkruns visited during the 5 weeks. i.e. different parkrun locations.
- Most consistent performer. This is for any runner who completes at least 3 parkruns in the 5 weeks. Their 3rd best time will be used.
- Best age-graded performance. The age-graded scores are listed against each performance on the parkrun website.
As well as a trophy for the handicap winner, there will be small mementos for the other category winners..
All you need to do to be included in the handicap series is to have run a similar distance (1m, 5k, 5m or 10k) in the year before and logged the result on the website. From your best result your handicap will be worked out. Then ensure you have entered your parkrun barcode number in the settings on your profile, and your results will be automatically collected. Alternatively you can manually enter the results.
For those who do not know about parkrun check out www.parkrun.org.uk where you will find info on how to register, get your barcode, and where your nearest events are.
Remember to share on the facebook members page where you will be running. Let's wear our UKnetrunner vests/tops and make ourselves visible and meet other members, and post any photos!!
I'll be writing regular updates, and look forward to seeing photos and meeting some of you out there (I've managed to move all my Saturday shifts to lates during June!)
