Winter Round-up

 Wed Apr 17 2013, 07:33pm, 0 comments
It was noted in the November round up that colder weather had finally arrived, it’s a shame it took until last week to finally depart! It has been a long cold winter of disrupted training and prompting the cancellation on our annual handicap race, Not the Roman 9.

So as spring seems to have well and truly sprung it is worth looking back at some notable winter achievements.

New Club Records
5 mile: Rebecca Crossley (FV35) - 46:13
10 mile: Bill Preston (MV60) - 1:36:25
20 mile: Jon Hullis (MV40) - 2:16:08, Brigitte Groves (FV50) - 3:17:35

Personal Bests
Because of the length of time since the last round up it is an impossible task to list all the Personal Bests since November but monthly round ups will be back at the end of April and all PBs can be seen listed in the Race Results. However it is worth welcoming two of our newer members who both ticked off a Half Marathon PB at Liverpool.
Baz Aveyard: 1.48.24
Robert Beech: 1.35.07

William Shippin tops the Grand Prix leader board having added an impressive collection of 4 PBs by the end of March.

But it is not all about speed, sometimes it is about sheer determination and strength, this must go to another of our newer members Sally Ford on her completion of the Centurion Thames Path 100..yes that is a 100 miles! Having ditched Matt Dunn when he was enticed off course around 82 miles by a bacon roll, Sally went on to storm the last 20 miles alone on what was an extremely cold weekend.
