Milton Keynes Half Marathon - Club Handicap

Sunday saw the second club handicap event of the year and despite a couple of withdrawals due to injury we had 10 club members braving the wind and rain. Despite lovely sunshine in the week before the race, and again the day after, the comedy gods had obviously decided to make things a little more challenging for our brave runners.

But this didn't stop the magnificent UKnetrunner as five runners set new PBs, with a couple of near misses too. The real interest was with the handicap where Craig Simpson was favourite after an overly generous handicap was assigned following his jog round the Brighton Half Marathon last month. However, whilst the boys were getting all competitive about things, it was club chairperson, Brigitte Groves that snuck in and stole the honours beating Craig's net time by 1:17.

After a injury-hit 2011 it was a great return to form for Brigitte with her first sub-2 hour half marathon since February 2009! Congratulations Brigitte, a trophy awaits at next year's AGM.

Finally, well done to all those that took part, full results can be found HERE.

p.s. Don't forget to check out the other club handicap events and if you've already entered one of the races, make sure you register yourself for the handicap.
